Wet conditions at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL, this past weekend couldn’t put out the fire of many Pole Vault City athletes. Nikki Carrol set a PR of 12′ in the rain to win her second 2A state championship in a row over Pole Vault City teammate, Nati Sheppard who finished second at 11’6″. Nati also placed 6th in the high jump at 5’2″ and was a member of the 4×400 relay that placed 6th. The rain turned ugly right at the end of the competition, forcing Carrol to resign from bettering her final height. Kari Shaver finished 9th in the 2A competition with a vault of 9’6″. On the 1A pit, Amy Jameson overcame the weather to finish 3rd with a vault of 8’6″. On the boys side, Erik Vinson tied his personal best of 14′ to finish 3rd, followed by Robby Costine in 6th place with a vault of 13′.
