Marcus Blessing from Leesburg High School bumped his personal best up a foot to 13’6″ at an invitational at Deland High School on Friday night. Marcus’s previous PR was 12’6″. Marcus had a personal best of only 11′ at the conclusion of the track season last year. His determination and work ethic have paid big dividends as his progress continues to rise. His 13’6″ winning vault was accomplished from 10 steps and a grip height of only 12’9″ giving him 17″ of clearance over his top hand, there are 8″ in the box so no comments about my math skills. This is truly an accomplishment for Marcus as the 3A division heats up again this year. Marcus is in Region 1 so the Panhandle and Jacksonville areas should pay attention to this guy. Congratulations to Marcus on being selected the Pole Vault City Athlete of the Week.
